My name is Josh. I was a kid with juvenile diabetes, a young man facing kidney failure, and—after a kidney-pancreas transplant—a survivor rebuilding from the ground up. Today, I’m the founder of Lifted Society, a streetwear brand born from that fight and shaped by the simple truth that struggle doesn’t have to define who we are.
From Diagnosis to Detour
Juvenile diabetes arrived early and without warning. It wasn’t just needles and numbers; it was a new language for living. Over time, complications stacked up. My kidneys failed. My energy vanished. My world narrowed to doctor visits, medications, and waiting rooms. People saw limitations. I chose to see a different kind of horizon.
A Second Chance
A kidney-pancreas transplant changed everything. The surgery didn’t erase the past; it gave me a second beginning. Recovery demanded patience, consistency, and faith. Every small win—walking farther, breathing easier, feeling stronger—felt like proof that life was returning. That second chance wasn’t just physical; it was purpose.
Strength Rebuilt Through Fitness
Getting healthy again wasn’t about chasing aesthetics. It was about reclaiming agency. Fitness became my daily contract with myself—steady sessions, clean fuel, better sleep, and a mindset that said, “Show up.” On days when my vision made the world blur, discipline gave me clarity.
